Our Sancerre Blanc La Villaudiere is a blend of 47 southeast-facing plots.
These Sauvignon Blanc vines are 30 to 40 years old on average, and flourish on a terroir composed of 65% Caillottes (limestone), 30% Terres Blanches (Kimmeridgian marl) and 5% Silex (siliceous clay).
The grapes are harvested at optimum maturity and transferred to the press by vibration. After long, low-pressure pneumatic pressing, the juice flows by gravity from the press to the vat, to avoid handling the grapes and juice. This is followed by 12 hours of static cold settling (to remove suspended particles), followed by alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats.
The wine is aged in stainless steel vats for 5 to 7 months on its fine lees to bring out its aromatic richness. It is then clarified, stabilized and bottled by us at the estate.
From the vine to the bottle, everything is done to respect and reveal the quality and expression of our terroirs.
Its limpid pale yellow color with golden highlights reveals an expressive nose combining floral, white peach and exotic fruit aromas. On the palate, this harmonious, clean wine combines freshness, substance and minerality.
Served at between 10 and 12°C, our Sancerre Blanc La Villaudiere is the perfect accompaniment to aperitifs, shellfish, oysters, fish, a vol-au-vent and, of course, a crottin de Chavignol!
Drink it now and enjoy it for up to 5-6 years.
